Pumpkin Carving

While at the Pumpkin patch, Gavin and Collin insisted on one of the huge mac pumpkins instead of individual small ones. I could barely lift it into the stoller from the ground and thought it was going to break the stroller..it is so dang heavy!! The boys had so much fun carving it and lighting it on the porch. Carson was really into it but not sure what to think...it was almost as big as him! We took a walk around our neighborhood tonight to see all of the fun decorations and lots of lights. We are now ready for halloween!

Staying inside, Away from the smoke and ash

School is cancelled today and tomorrow and we can't go outside because Collin and Carson have Asthma/sensitive lungs. We talked about a little early weekend getaway since a golf tournament Kris had tomorrow is cancelled. Can't go south to our usual spots, can't go to OC...just as bad, LA? ...nope, Hey Grandpa and Grandma Brink and Grandpa Euge.....It is smokey there??? You might have visitors on the way!! :)

Are we prepared?

These crazy fires have really made me think..Are we prepared for a natural disaster? Is my car filled with gas? Do I have any cash on hand? Cell phone handy? Earthquakes, Fires, Floods...you never know. Life gets so busy and it is hard to take the time to be fully prepared. We have our 72 hour backpacks but have no idea exactly what is in them and don't think clothes or shoes are on the list of items...hmmm, that could be a problem. I guess it's time to pull everything out and go through it. Thank you for all of the calls we have received...Yes we are OK. The Fallbrook fire is about 10 miles from us but we just see heavy smoke coming over the hills. Last I heard it was 10% contained. Luckily we are not smelling too much smoke yet, however trying to stay inside due to the air quality. We have some friends evacuated from San Diego and Fallbrook and are praying for the safety of their homes and for the exhausted firefighters fighting these blazes.

Home Sweet Home

We are home from Utah safe and sound...BARELY! We did not expect to wake up at 4am sunday morning to drive home and have 4-5 inches of snow on the ground. We decided to leave anyway but the roads were icy and we hit what seemed to be a huge blizzard around Nephi. Thanks to my Mom's driving skills we made it out of there...with a good reminder to me of why we live in CA! However, coming through the cajon pass there were some serious winds, semis on their sides and fire right along the freeway..Gavin and Collin were so excited to see fire close up and the fire fighters at work! Mom and I were wondering if it was safe...sure didn't seem to be.
Anyway I have been wanting to go to Utah for a while and it just never works out. My Mom was going to work a day there and decided to put her airplane ticket on hold and drive there with us since I wasnt comfortable driving alone. The boys did great, we stopped in Vegas at the Mandalay Bay for a few hours and saw the shark aquarium and had a nice dinner before heading to St. George where we stayed overnight. We actually had our first hotel complaint there. We checked in late..about 11 and were getting situated when the front desk called to infom me tha man below us had complained that an adult was jumping around above him. I told the lady she could move us to the first floor before I got unpacked otherwise...Sorry, I am travelling with 3 young kids and dont know what to tell ya! My mom went down to check her email and there was the angry man at the front desk...making the story short, there was quite the confrontation between him and my Mom..she was not backing down and unphased by his moodiness. Anyway, all ended up ok and as much as we were hoping to, we did not see him at breakfast..dang, that could have been fun!
It was fun to see My sister Jenna who is in Provo and her cute apartment, friends, etc. We also went to a first birthday costume party for Mc Kade..no pics due to no camera :) and were able to visit Kristol, my friend since birth..her Mom and my Mom were best friends in Torrance and moved to Oc together. Her and her husband Spencer have an adorable new baby boy Jacob. Gavin wanted to take him home and wanted to know exactly where he came from and how he got here. We told him he came from heaven and cut it off there. He keeps asking which store we can go to to buy one for us....a GIRL one he says.
It was great to see my Grandparents and spend some time with them. The cold weather and snow was fun since the boys had never seen snow. We had a great trip and have decided to fly next time.

Crocodile or Alligator ( i have no idea), at the Mandalay Bay Shark aquarium. Neither Gavin nor Collin wanted to turn their back on the animal..I don't blame them..yikes!~

Carson and Mimi looking into a tank full of jellyfish..he was mesmorized~

It's snowing!~

I have known Kristol since birth, it was so fun to see her and her sweet new baby Jacob~

Dinner with my Sister Jenna and her friends~

Grandpa Keith and Carson Keith

One of the reasons I went to Utah was for my Grandparents to meet Carson and to get a picture of Carson with my Grandpa Keith ( Carson's middle name). I had fully charged my camera and did not think I would need the charger. When we got to Utah...my battery was almost dead. I was so bummed because there were so many great photo ops! I got a few pictures and then bought a disposable camera. As soon as I got the pics of Grandpa and Carson, Collin got a hold of the camera and used the remaining film. It wasnt till I got home and uploaded my photos that I found about 20 minutes of random video that Collin had taken in the car on the way to Utah...no wonder there was no battery left! Carson Loves Gigi and G-pa~
