Broken

Friday was planned to be a Very busy day for me and Kris had a day filled with Conference calls. I had all of the kids loaded up in the car and the baby in his car seat. Wearing some wedge style sandles, I ran in to the house to get a bottle and as I was going back out to the garage, I slipped on my shoe and down the step.
Hysterically crying I called Kris and could hear he was on a call in he backround, he dropped everything and came to take me to the Doctor. After calling my Mom, she dropped everything and rushed to take care of the little boys. Unfortunately, my foot is broken and the gap between the bones is so large they may have to do surgery. I go to the specialist next week and will know more. For now it is swelling a lot still, so in a hard splint temporarily.
Maybe this is a good time to bring up my Cast phobia? Yes.... The look, texture and claustrophobic feeling I believe i would get from a cast (even though I have never had one) would cause me serious panic attacks. I am hoping the doctor will understand and work with me to keep on something similar to what I have now. At least if I panic I can take it off... and just knowing that if I did panic I could take it off, is enough to cause me not to panic, so I won't have to take it off... you see?
Since its my right foot, I cannot drive.... it's going to be a long 4-6 weeks... maybe longer. Sigh.....

Happy First Day of Spring!

This week I noticed that I have gorgeous Lilies blooming all through my yard. A definate sign of Spring!

A Change for Good

After debating back and forth between the Vitamix and the Blendtec, I decided to go with the Blendtec for a variety of different reasons and I love that it's all digital. It has a "Whole Juice" button that you press and it juices down whole fruits and vegetables. Sunday morning I made the boys a smoothie as I usually do but this time, I added a handfull of spinach... just to see what they would do. It adds a much earthier taste to the smoothie so I only made them each 6 oz or so. They all LOVED it want wanted More! Today I expanded and tried some carrots with the spinach.... success! My little Carson is not a great eater, I am so happy to see him down a smoothie, knowing that there are good nutrients in there for him , that he wouldn't get otherwise. I intend to learn how to make ice cream, bread dough, soups and much more in this baby!

On Saturday night as Kris and I watched the movie Food Inc. I don't know what to say other thank it was a completely eye opening experience. We are definately going to decrease the amount of meat we consume and always buy free range meats & eggs. I already buy organic when I can, especially milk, produce, yogurt, etc. But i am going to really look at everything we eat now, a lot closer.

Thursday night has just started to become Mc Donalds night for the kids because we are at Baseball practice late and they are starving when it's over and they look forward to the happy meal toy, especially since it's star wars right now. After reading and now really understanding what is in the meats (or meat like substances) and ingredients, I will have to come up with a new Thursday night plan. Everyone knows fast food is unhealthy but I am really just understanding that it's more like toxic chemicals rather than food.
Any ideas for fast dinners after baseball???
DISCLAIMER~ Even in light of all of the new information I have been given about food choices, I WILL NOT be giving up Diet Coke any time in the near future.

Farm Box

A few friends have told me about a produce delivery service that they have tried and love... so, i decided to give it a try and see what the hype is all about. The website is valleycenterorganicgardens.com . Farmer Bill delivers a cooler of fresh, locally grown, Organic produce to your doorstep each tuesday. You go to his website and place your order of exactly what you need, you can get as much as will fit in the cooler... which is a lot!
This is just some of what we got, there are layers and layers underneath. We ate all 6 of the oranges today and they were heavenly... packed with vitamin C!

The boys waited all afternoon and were on the look out for him to arrive... they came running in to tell me he had left the box! Carson helping with the fresh flowers.
Gavin, and all of the boys were so helpful in unpacking the cooler and sorting it into the correct drawers.

Collin heading to the pantry to put away the honey.
I am really excited about having more of a variety of healthy choices in my house and am excited to start making smoothies with not just fruits, but greens... we'll see how that goes!

Hendrix is 21 Months

How can my baby be almost 2? If you notice on his second birthday that he still has a bottle, is wearing little onesies and bibs, carrying a blankie... or possibly even swaddled, it's because i'm not ready to let go of my last baby just yet. Hendrix is growing up so fast and is hillarious... he has such a sense of humor already and loves his little life!
Did I mention he has some of the biggest baby teeth I have ever seen? I love his smile!
Discovering the park and trying to squish his face through the bars
He loves to go down the slide over and over and over and....well, you get the point.... He loves the slide!
He always makes the funniest faces and always makes me laugh.
I love to watch his eyes as he thinks and figures things out... he is so smart. He loves pancakes and today, he got out the griddle, spatula and a plate and was saying "p-cakes. p-cakes"
And in recent news, he is still likes the trash truck and all trucks for that matter. Every day now, when i am getting him dressed he says "truck" and wants to wear a shirt with a truck on it apparently. Isn't he a little young to be so picky about what he wears? But alas, since he is the baby, he gets whatever he wants... well, they all do for that matter but thats another ball game. So, out i will go tomorrow to find a few more truck shirts since i have been washing this one every day to satisfy the prince. Today I tried to put a dinosaur shirt on him and he was not a happy guy. Gotta love that persistence!
